Important calendar dates for 2017-18 school year approved

The Tahoma School Board on Tuesday approved a list of important dates to include in the 2017-18 school year calendar. While the full calendar will be approved and published early next year, these dates have been approved by the calendar committee and union leaders. There will be additions to the calendar later this year including blue and gold days, early release and other special event days.

School will start a bit later than usual on Sept. 6, to provide more time during the summer to complete all of the moves and changes necessary as part of the Tahoma Transition.

Important dates include:

  • Labor Day: Monday, Sept. 4
  • First day of school 1st through 12th grades: Wednesday, Sept. 6
  • First day of kindergarten: TBD
  • Elementary parent conferences (half days): Nov. 15-22
  • Secondary parent conferences (half days): Nov. 20-22
  • Winter break: Dec. 21- Jan. 2
  • Semester break day/ inclement weather make-up day: Jan. 29
  • Mid-winter break: Feb. 19-23
  • Spring break: April 9-13
  • Non-student day/ inclement weather make-up day: May 25
  • Last day of school: June 20
  • Additional inclement weather make-up days: Added to the end of calendar, starting June 21
