Bear Metal wins regional Chairman’s award!

The Tahoma Robotics Club, aka Bear Metal, returned home Saturday evening as regional champions of the Seattle FIRSTRobotics Competition. Tahoma also won the regional Chairman’s award which is the most prestigious award available at the competition. The Chairman’s award is given to the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate, and which is most successful in transforming our culture to inspire greater levels of respect and honor for science and technology.

Either of these awards alone was enough to qualify the team for the world championship next month in St. Louis. There, they will compete with 300 of the best teams from around the world. This will be Bear Metal’s fourth trip to the championship since its inception in 2007.

Governer Gregoire was in attendance on Friday and two of our students, Kyla Marczewski and Elizabeth Burianek, were asked to give her a tour. I’ve attached a few pictures of the event. More pictures can be found on Bear Metal’s websitetahomarobotics.org.
