UW in the High School

Students taking these courses earn THS graduation credit and a THS letter grade. Those who wish to earn U.W. credit must pay a $35 registration fee one time each semester, along with a fee between $284 and $298 per course for tuition. These fees are subject to change by the university. Students earn both a THS grade and a UW grade.

If the student earns a 2.0 or above for his/her UW grade, he/she receives 5 UW quarter credits, as well as an official UW transcript grade. The grade earned will transfer to UW and to some other colleges and universities. Credit for these courses will be accepted at all Washington public colleges and universities, and at the majority of public and private universities in the U.S. Students are encouraged to check with the colleges and universities they are considering prior to paying the fee for these courses to insure that the credit will be accepted.

Courses are recommended for students who meet the prerequisites, and who are self-directed and committed students willing to put in out-of-class study time of 5-8 hours weekly. University of Washington courses require more homework and are more challenging to students. Students should plan carefully before enrolling in multiple UW/AP classes at a time.
