Preserve your memories of Tahoma High School. We are selling classic scenes of Tahoma on blank cards, five cards for $10. They make great gifts for graduates or for any student. They will be available on through the website.

If you would like to order through the website, please contact Kaitlyn Dige at kaitlyn_dige@comcast.net. Please include how many sets you would like and your student’s name. Payment can be made on any blue day in room 406. Checks need to be made out to Tahoma TSA. Your set of cards will also be available to be picked up in room 406. See the other card photos here

Come to the Trade Show on May 30 and get free stuff!

Tahoma will be hosting it’s annual trade show soon! It is at the High School’s main gym from 6-8 pm on May 30th . We have an estimated 100 companies being represented by the students of Tahoma who have spent countless hours on their presentations of the companies. Each student has selected a company and has been responsible for advertising them at this event, along with possible samples. Come join us!

Congrats, Congressional Art Show winner Haydee!

Haydee Sanchez was the winner of the 8^th District Congressional Art Show last night. This is Tahoma’s 5^th year in a row wining this award. We are blessed and fortunate to have such wonderful student artists among us who can express through the creation and innovation of their life experiences through art. Way to go, Haydee! Here is a copy of her piece “Lonley” which will be on display in the Cannon Tunnel in Washington DC for the 2012-2013 year.

We The People finishes in the top 10 in the nation!

Congratulations to Tahoma High School’s team of constitutional scholars, who finished in the top 10 at the national competition finals for We the People, held April 27-May 1 in Washington, D.C.

This is the 17^th time that Tahoma High School has represented Washington state at the national competition. It is the second time that Tahoma High, or any Washington team, has advanced to the top 10.

Tahoma’s team is coached by Gretchen Wulfing. The team is composed of seniors who began preparing for We the People competition during their summer vacation last June. Team members are: Nathan Farnsworth, Sarah Fuller, Mark Gato, Katherine Hartke, Matthew Horne, Kristen Jamieson, Oliver Kombol, Kaitlin Lowe, Emily Martin, Allanah Miller, Sadie Lee Nelson, Emily Page, Julianne Reilly, Thomas Reinhard, Justin Ross, Lora Sonnen, Grace Taylor, Kendall Thiele, Clara Tibbetts, Harrison Waldock, Caitlyn Ward, and Barrett Weston.

Lincoln High School, Portland, OR, is this year’s national champion.

Bear Metal success at nationals

The Tahoma Robotics Club returned from St. Louis last night after four days of competition at the FIRST Robotics Championship event. Tahoma had a rough start on the beginning of the first day of competitions due to some air leaks in their pneumatic system. Once these issues were fixed, the Bears did extremely well and rose to become one of the top ten basket scoring robots on the field of 100 teams. Due to the rough start and tough random alliance pairings, Tahoma was pushed down in the rankings for the qualification matches and ended up 42 out 100

However, once the qualification matches were over, the top eight teams from the qualification matches became alliance captains and drafted their partners for the finals. Due to Tahoma’s impressive scoring performance, they were chosen as a first round draft pick on the 7th seeded alliance. This is the first year Tahoma was chosen in the first round in the finals at championship. Tahoma allied with team 195 from Southington, Connecticut and team 2415 from Atlanta, Georgia. Tahoma’s alliance was eliminated in the quarterfinals by a strong alliance that went on win the Archimedes division.

We would like thank everyone for their support and encouragement. Please congratulate the robotics members for their most impressive performance ever at the championship event.

Each year the THS PTA presents an Outstanding Educator and Golden Acorn Award. The Educator award is an excellent way to honor administrators, teachers and staff for above and beyond contributions to our children’s educational experience. The Golden Acorn award is to recognize a volunteer who has given outstanding service to all children in our school and community. Forms are in the office at THS and can also be found on the PTA website. Deadline for these “above and beyond” awards are due April 30^th in the high school office.
